Virginia Creeper Trail (Abingdon trailhead)
The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34-mile rail-trail between Abingdon and Whitetop, passing creeks, trestles, and forested mountain scenery. It is one of the most popular recreation corridors in Virginia and draws cyclists and walkers from across the region.
Abingdon’s trailhead connects directly to the town’s historic core, so many guests roll out from a Creeper shuttle or bike rental and finish with dinner or drinks on Main Street. The nonprofit Virginia Creeper Trail Conservancy publishes maps, etiquette, and stewardship information.
Shuttle services, bike shops, and seasonal hours vary—confirm rentals and return logistics on partner websites before you go.
